I cut this toy stacking
cat puzzle using my scroll saw from a piece of 1x12 pine wood board.
After cutting the board to size using a miter saw, I sand the wood
smooth and apply blue painters tape to one surface. The pattern is glued
to the tape with 3m adhesive. Next, holes are drilled for the cat's
eyes and to insert the scroll saw blade. After the puzzle is cut and the
pattern has been removed, there is more sanding to smooth the corners
and remove the fuzzy bits. Then it is time to finish.
The finish is a shop-made brew of mineral oil and beeswax with just a pinch of carnauba wax to make it a little harder.
