Last year I experimented with miniature birdhouse Christmas tree ornaments. I made a batch of similar birdhouses from small pieces of wood I had leftover from other projects. I always liked compound cutting and wanted to try some of the ornaments. Steve Good posted a pattern for a relatively simple birdhouse, and I had to give it a shot.

About the same time, I had asked about wood types people used for their birdhouses. Someone responded that they glued up small pieces of wood from cutoffs to make theirs. Making squares from small bits of wood intrigued me, and I decided to give it a try. It was a lot of work, but it worked great.

This year I have a large variety of designs. I'm only making one of each.
