Patterns arrived on a 3-inch grid, requiring scanning, digital cleanup in Gimp, careful tracing using Inkscape, and precise enlargement. Printing a pattern that spanned multiple pages posed a challenge. A scroll saw proved invaluable for cutting each curved piece, and plywood templates were created for possible future endeavors. Several hurdles appeared along the way, including frequent interruptions. While the finish did not meet the highest hopes, the imperfection remains apparent only to the maker. The original design specified butt joints, which complicated clamping and often led to shifting pieces. Next time, biscuits, dowels, or another method will help hold everything in place until the glue sets.
