Laying Out Patterns For the Wings Arms and Legs

I need to be careful to pay attention to grain direction for strength. I also need to arrange the patterns not to waste the wood. Walnut is expensive. Sometimes, the two are not compatible, and I have to waste a bit of wood. Strength always wins.

I use blue painter's tape on the wood to make it easier to remove the patterns. The blue tape doesn't leave any residue to clean up.

Not all of the sanding is completed. There is a bit more to do. A few rough spots on the edges and all the corners need to be rounded and fuzzies removed.

I always find it a challenge to get the legs aligned correctly. Arms wings and ears can be off a little and it doesn't matter. If the legs or of even a little the dragon will not stand correctly.

Using the parts glued on the other side a guide I glue on the remaining parts being very careful with the legs.

A handmade wood toy monster truck made from natural wood and hand-finished with amber shellac and pink acrylic paint. Sturdy, durable, and made for play. A heavy-duty toy.

By pressing down with your finger over the rear axle and slowly applying pressure until the monster truck pops out from under your finger, the truck can do backflips. It takes a bit of practice to get the hang of it, but my grandson has been able to make them flip since he was three years old.

I made this toy pickup truck from 100% hardwoods. You will be hard-pressed to find a more durable toy. The toy truck is hand finished with amber shellac and metallic purple acrylic paint.
