I make this toy hot rod in my toymakers shop using traditional woodworking tools.  The body is sprayed with nontoxic gloss orange paint. The black trim is hand-painted with flat black acrylic and top coated with clear shellac.  I hand-finish the wheels with amber shellac.

I make every effort to make sure my toys perform well. I carefully test each toy before it is put up for sale. My toys are made for play.

I make these small wood toy trucks in my toymakers shop using traditional woodworking tools. The body of the truck and the wheels are hand-finished with amber shellac. I insert nylon washers between the wheels and the truck's body to ensure the toy rolls smoothly and does not rub against the truck's sides. My goal is to make the highest quality toy in its class that I possibly can.

My grandson has many versions of this toy truck. He has been playing with them for over three years. They are still going strong, outlasting many factory-made plastic toys.

Handmade Toy Halloween Jack-O-Lantern Cutout - 1014108136

I cut this Halloween Jack-o-Lantern from MDF. MDF paints very well and can be finished to a mirror finish using appropriate techniques. However, I do not recommend using it anywhere it can get rained on. Wood would work much better in places where it might get wet. I can make these from wood if you like. You might not think these are toys, but I assure you my grandson does.

An unfinished 3/4-inch thick Halloween Jack-o-Lantern cut by hand on a scroll saw. It has been lightly sanded with 220 grit sandpaper and is ready to be painted. Unlike many thinner cutouts, these are freestanding and make good pretend toys.

I made the first batch of these for my grandson, Odin. He is crazy about anything Halloween-related. They are Halloween decorations, but for my grandson, they are toys. He builds haunted houses from blocks and uses them for occupants.

Handmade Wooden Toy Pickup Truck from the Play Pal Series Pine Amber Shellac With Metallic Blue Hubs - 754396005

Every once in a while, you find a piece of pinewood that looks good. I made this toy truck from one of those. Whenever I find a piece of wood like this, I always give a clear finish so I can see the grain and color of the wood. It doesn't make it a better toy, but it is nice to see.
