My Itty Bitty Animal Collection

In my Toymakers Shop, I created a wooden cutout of a Fox using traditional woodworking tools. The Fox toy is made from unfinished wood, then sanded until smooth and ready to be painted. It can be combined with other toys from my Itty Bitty Animal Collection and is perfect for stacking or playing pretend. This freestanding and stackable toy is ideal for both playtime and decoration.

Unfinished wooden animal toys offer several benefits over pre-painted plastic ones:

  • Open-ended creativity: Unpainted animals are a blank canvas for a child's imagination. They can be anything the child wants, from a realistic depiction of a lion to a purple-spotted dragon, encouraging creative thinking and imaginative play.

Please note that each piece is handmade from leftover wood cutoffs and may vary in thickness but will always be at least half an inch thick. Also, due to the natural wood grain and color variations, your item will differ slightly from those pictured in the listing photos. These variations add to the charm and character of each piece.

But Now I've made a lot of these little wooden toy trucks. Each one is carefully cut on my scroll saw and hand-sanded until they are smooth to the touch. Any toys with no repairable defects are dent to the designer kindling pile. My goal is to make toys as high quality as I possibly can. This version of the truck is hand finished with clear shellac and hand-rubbed, waxed, and polished to a satin finish. These are some of my favorite toys to make.
