Handmade Wooden Toy Car Hot Rod Ford 27 T-Bucket I have many of these cars from a variety of materials. I made this one from two layers of 3/4-inch MDF glued together and then cut on my scroll saw. I sanded and sealed the body and applied multiple coats of acrylic paint with a clear glossy topcoat. Click here to see the listing in my shop. I did not drill this one because at the time I made it, I did not have the technique down well enough to get the hole drilled correctly without damaging the paint. The wheels are made from birch hardwood and finished with amber shellac. The shellac soaks deep into the wood and wears well. I back all the wheels on my toys with nylon washers. Handmade Wooden Toy Giraffe I have made many of these toy giraffes. The first one I made was when I was learning to use my scroll saw many years ago. I cut a lot of animal shapes, getting the hang of using my saw. They were nearly perfect practice. We still have a large jar full of those original animals. Today, my grandkids play with them.
