I'm building a custom truck order. The trucks are designed to cut from 2x stock. I could easily cut these from a 2x4 if I could get them with square corners. Unfortunately, all they sell in my area have rounded corners, so I lose 1/8-inch off of each size, making them too small. I looked for a 2x6 with suitable wood, but I could not find one without digging through a massive pile of lumber. I was unwilling to do that, so I cut up a 1x12 and glued up the Propper size blocks. I got lucky and managed to get six blocks out of a 4-foot length of 1x12. The few knots were in waste areas and did not matter.

All of the cutting was done with a 12-inch compound miter saw. Using a miter saw is not the most accurate way to cut these, but in this case, it is much easier because the miter saw is sitting on my workbench. Accuracy is not very important here.

There are 45 clamps used in this glue-up. If the board were not flat, I would have used more clamps.

Gluing up blocks adds a day to the build because I need to wait until the glue is cured before cutting, drilling, or sanding.

I sand the wood with 80-grit sandpaper before gluing to remove any marks and prep the surface to get the best glue bond.
