After careful sanding, each piece is individually primed and painted with acrylic paint and shellac before assembly. After assembly, the cars are coated with clear acrylic. I make every effort to make sure my toys perform well. Nylon washers are inserted between the wheels and the body to ensure the toy rolls smoothly and the wheels do not rub against the car body. Wood being a natural material, every piece is different. The balance points point changes with each toy I build. The first thing is to get the feet even so they sit flat on the table. Once they are flat and the glue is cured, I test them to see for stability. If T-rex isn't stable, I carefully sand the bottom of the feet at a slight angle to change the balance (center of gravity?) point slightly. This process is repeated until I get the results I want.
